Former Deputy Premier of Ontario and former Ontario Health Minister
Deb Matthews received a PhD in social demography from the University of Western Ontario. She entered politics in 2003, becoming the MPP for London North Centre. She served in both Premier McGuinty’s and Premier Wynne’s cabinets. Ms. Matthews was appointed as the Minister of Children and Youth Services and Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues in 2007 and was made the Health Minister in 2009. She served as Deputy Premier of Ontario from 2013 to 2018, President of the Treasury Board from 2014-2016 and as Minister of Advanced Education from 2016-2018. She retired from politics in 2018.
